How much does AI automation cost in the UK? (2026 guide)

Real starting prices published by UK AI automation agencies, plus what n8n, Make and Zapier charge, and the running costs buyers often miss.

There is no official price list for AI automation. Prices depend on how many systems are involved, how messy the data is, and whether you need a simple workflow or an AI agent that makes decisions. What we can do is show you what UK agencies actually publish.

How we built this guide: of the 152 agencies in our directory, 39 publish some kind of starting price or price range on their own website. Everything below comes from those pages as they stood on 11 October 2026. We have not negotiated these prices or confirmed what is included, so treat them as starting points, not quotes.

Audits and discovery: from £350 to £3,000

Many agencies start with a fixed-price review of your processes. This is usually the cheapest way to get a realistic plan.

AgencyWhat they publish
Manchester AI Automation AgencyWorkflow audit £350–£750
HeyBRBAI assessment £499
Helmstone AIWorkflow audit from £750
AugustovaAI audit £2,500–£6,000
MagoraDiscovery sprint from £3,000

Single automations and small builds: from £99 to £3,950

For one or a handful of workflows (for example, moving web enquiries into a CRM and sending a follow-up), published entry prices look like this:

BayAINo-code integration from £99

Monthly and managed plans: from £29 to £500 a month

Some providers sell automation as a subscription, which often bundles hosting, monitoring and small changes.

The running costs people forget

The build fee is rarely the whole story. Ask every agency to estimate these separately:

  1. Automation platform. Zapier has a free plan (100 tasks a month), with paid Professional plans starting at $19.99 a month billed annually for 750 tasks; it can bill in GBP. Make bills in credits and has a free plan with 1,000 credits a month. n8n Cloud starts at €20 a month (Starter) billed annually and charges per workflow execution, and its Community Edition can be self-hosted. Prices change, so check the providers’ pricing pages.
  2. AI model usage. If your automation calls a language model (OpenAI, Anthropic and others), you pay per use. Ask for an estimate based on your real volumes.
  3. Telephony. Voice agents usually carry per-minute call costs on top of any platform fee.
  4. Maintenance. APIs change and workflows break. Agree who monitors failures and what fixes cost.

How to compare quotes fairly

  • Ask for the same scope in writing from each agency: which systems, which steps, what happens on errors.
  • Check who owns the accounts (Zapier, Make, n8n, OpenAI) when the project ends. Ideally, they should be in your company’s name.
  • Separate one-off build from monthly running costs.
  • Ask whether an audit fee is credited against the build.

Quick answers

What is a typical starting price for a UK AI automation project?
Among the agencies in our directory that publish prices, single automations and small builds start from £99 to £3,950, and AI agent or larger custom builds from around £4,000 to £6,000, with published ranges reaching £15,000 or more. Most agencies do not publish prices and quote per project.
Do I have to pay monthly as well as the build fee?
Usually, yes. Expect platform subscriptions (for example Zapier, Make or n8n), AI model usage if the automation calls a language model, and optionally a maintenance retainer. Some agencies publish managed plans from £29 to £500 per month.
Is a paid audit worth it?
A fixed-price audit (published prices in our directory range from about £350 to £6,000, with most entry prices between £350 and £3,000) is a low-risk way to find out what is worth automating before committing to a larger build. Ask whether the fee is credited against the build.
